Construction of a lead-zinc mining and processing plant has begun

The start of construction work on the site of the future processing plant was symbolically marked by the laying of a “time capsule”with a message to future employees of the Shalkiinsky GOK.

Akim of Kyzylorda region Krymbek Kusherbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC “National Welfare Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” Alik Aidarbayev, Chairman of the Board of National Mining Company “Tau-Ken Samruk” Kanat Kudaybergen and General Director of the ENGINEERING DOBERSEK GmbH contractor Albin Dobersek took part in the ceremony.

GOK will produce high-quality zinc and lead concentrates. The demand for these products in Kazakhstan and on the world market largely guarantees sales markets.

The cost of the project is $651 million, at the moment investments worth 35 billion tenge have been disbursed.

The confirmed reserves of the deposit suggest the possibility of mining and processing of ore until 2051.

“The commissioning of the 1st stage of the complex with a capacity of 2 million tons is planned in October 2020, the 2nd start-up complex with a capacity of 4 million tons will start working in November 2021,” said Askar Jaukenov, General Director of shalkiyatsink LTD.

Given the strategic importance of the construction of the enterprise for economic and social development of the region, Akimat of Kyzylorda region, JSC “ShalkiyaZinc LTD” company ENGINEERING DOBERSEK agreed on mutual support in matters related to construction Selchinskaja GOK and signed the memorandum.

TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES: Unique technical and technological solutions will ensure high productivity and reduce energy consumption. For example, the first stages of ore crushing will be carried out underground. A highly efficient vertical conveyor with a height of 200 m will lift raw materials from the mine to the surface (there are no analogues of this device in Kazakhstan).

Industry 4.0. DIGITAL GOK: according to anatoly ligai, managing director for project management of jsc “shalkiyatsink ltd”, a high degree of automation will ensure online availability of information about the production cycle, remote control of processes and equipment. This will reduce the impact of the human factor, and, ultimately, ensure the stable operation of the GOK. World-famous companies such as “Mekhanobr”, “Outotec”, “Engineering Dobersek”, “TOMS”participated in the development and optimization of the technological scheme of ore dressing.
